211 Check Editorial Structure

The editorial structure of 211 Check constitutes a variety of professional staff at different levels, as discussed below:

Team Leader / Chief Editor:
An experienced and visionary professional who heads 211 Check is known as the Team Leader or Chief. S/he supervises and controls all the 211 Check Desk and decides and implements the editorial policy and looks after its execution in consultation with the Managing and Associate Editors. The person is actively involved in the planning and growth of the 211 Check Desk.

Managing Editor:
The Managing Editor executes the vision of the Team Leader or Chief Editor into reality. S/he takes part in all initiatives taken by the Chief Editor and accordingly gives suggestions to the junior staff. In the absence of the Chief Editor, s/he looks after all the activities of the 211 Check Desk.
The Managing Editor also keeps himself up to date about the activities of other fact-check organisations and apprises the chief editor accordingly.

Associate Editor:
For smooth functioning of the 211 Check Desk and to assist the Managing Editor; the Associate Editor mediates between the Managing Editor and Fact-checkers. S/he ensures accuracy, objectivity and balance in fact-check articles for avoiding mistakes during pressure hours.
In the absence of the Managing Editor, S/he performs all the duties of the Managing Editor, such as article editing and page designing.

Fact-checker:
The 211 Check Desk is staffed by a team of fact-checkers. They are notified of claims to be investigated via our WhatsApp tip line, email, or social media direct messages. They work on each claim based on their ability and expertise, as determined by the editors.
They are supervised and instructed by the Managing Editor to research facts and draft fact-article articles once they have gathered all of the sources required for a specific fact-check.

Data Analyst:
The data analyst collects data from various sources, then reviews and interprets it using data analysis tools to provide meaningful information and insights to assist in making better-informed decisions. This could include decisions on any topic.

Media Monitors:
Media monitors sift through the vast amount of media produced every day, looking for news items and articles, particularly those that may contain claims that need to be verified. Our media monitors look for breaking news in newspapers, on television, radio, and on the Internet. Look for mentions of the 211 Check Desk in these stories about a specific event, such as an election.
The monitor collects article links or archived versions and stores them in a central location so that they can be accessed when needed.

Graphic Designer:
The Graphic Designer is in charge of defining requirements, visualizing, and creating graphics such as illustrations, logos, layouts, and photos. He or she designs the visual aspects of our website, social media posters, leaflets, exhibitions, and other materials.
S/he creates graphics that should catch the attention of those who see them and convey the intended message. The goal is to motivate and entice the intended audience.
